Noninvasive and minimally invasive approaches provide unique opportunities for medical management and conservative tooth preparation for pediatric patients with decay. These strategies enable tooth preservation, reduce patient discomfort, and provide an empathetic, child-focused approach. Enzymatic caries removal, nano-silver fluoride, enamel regeneration, and oral antiseptics are innovative materials for such conservative approaches. This presentation will highlight evidence, clinical applications, case selection, and patient outcomes with these modalities.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the mechanism of action of self-assembling peptides, case selection and technique
Understand the mechanism of action of papain-based caries removal, case selection and technique.
Understand the mechanism of action of nonstaining nano silver fluoride and povidone-iodine, case selection and technique
