Abstract:
ntroduction: Social media is a powerful tool in pediatric dentistry, where parental guidance shapes children’s oral health behaviors. While audiovisual platforms can increase oral health knowledge and influence practice selection, they introduce ethical challenges regarding professional boundaries and patient privacy.



Purpose: This study evaluates patterns of social media use among pediatric dentists. It aims to understand perceptions of clinical outreach effectiveness, preferred platforms, and the navigation of ethical considerations like HIPAA compliance and health misinformation.



Methods: A cross-sectional survey was distributed to American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) members. The 18-item questionnaire assesses demographics, adoption levels, content strategies, performance metrics, and ethical considerations. It also explores barriers for non-users and the potential impact of AI integration.

Results (In Progress): Data collection is ongoing. Analysis will examine the correlation between social media activities and tangible outcomes, such as practice growth and career opportunities. It will also identify the most effective content types for different pediatric age groups.



Conclusions: This research will provide a comprehensive overview of the digital landscape in pediatric dentistry. Findings will help define educational needs and best practices for ethical, effective digital communication in an evolving clinical environment
