Aubrey Fleming, DDS, MPH, is a pediatric dental resident at the University of California, San Francisco Division of Pediatric Dentistry. Her current research focuses on assessing dental care capacity for children with special healthcare needs (SHCN) across California, specifically examining the geographic disparities between urban and rural provider networks. By analyzing statewide datasets from California Children’s Services and Medi-Cal Dental, she identifies "specialty deserts" where rural populations face significant barriers to care. Her work aims to advocate for targeted workforce incentives and improved referral infrastructure to ensure equitable access to oral healthcare for California’s most vulnerable pediatric populations.
