Dr. Donna Kritz-Silverstein is a Professor with a primary appointment in the School of Public Health and a secondary appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California San Diego. She has a doctorate in social psychology with a minor in statistics from New York University. For almost 40 years, Dr. Kritz-Silverstein has been a Co-Investigator and Principal Investigator on studies of the Rancho Bernardo Cohort and has served as its Follow-up Coordinator. She has also been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several other NIH and industry sponsored studies as well as evaluator on HRSA sponsored studies. Dr. Kritz-Silverstein’s main areas of research include heart disease and its risk factors, cognitive function, women’s health, osteoporosis, dental public health, and the effects of psychosocial factors on health and well-being. Her research has included every type of study design and she has mentored and taught courses in research methods, data analysis and scientific writing to doctoral students, medical students, dental students and pediatric dental residents for 37 years.
