Born in South Korea, Dr. Kwon moved to Michigan in 1996. He earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Detroit Mercy. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he gained comprehensive clinical experience. Dr. Kwon practiced general dentistry for six years before pursuing advanced training in orthodontics. He earned his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and an active member of both the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. In addition to providing clinical care, Dr. Kwon is deeply committed to education. He teaches at the University of Michigan and serves as Orthodontic Program Director at Mott Children’s Health Center. Prior to 2010, he tutored students for over ten years in AP courses, the SAT, and the ACT. He also previously taught Human Anatomy and Physiology at Eastern Michigan University, an experience he greatly enjoyed. Dr. Kwon has a strong interest in the biomechanical aspects of orthodontics, focusing on efficient tooth movement while ensuring patient comfort throughout treatment. He values the opportunity to serve his patients and his community. Dr. Kwon lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his wife, Sarah, and their three beautiful daughters, Elyse, Sabela, and Nichole.
