Dr. Christie Custodio-Lumsden, PhD, MS, RDN, is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition Sciences at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Her research aims to advance health equity and understanding of behavioral drivers of health and disease. She earned an MS in Nutrition Education, completed her dietetics training to become a Registered Dietitian, developed clinical nutrition expertise at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and currently provides clinical nutrition counseling to dental patients. She holds a PhD in Behavioral Nutrition and completed postdoctoral training in Population Oral Health. She has expertise developing and evaluating interventions promoting healthy diet-related behaviors to combat chronic disease in vulnerable populations. Dr. Lumsden is among a small cadre of nutrition scientists integrating nutrition in dentistry and advancing interprofessional education and practice. She is now expanding her research into exposomics, using metabolomics and microbiomics to examine how dietary and environmental exposures interact to influence health.
