John Gavel, DDS, PGY-2 Resident, University of Oklahoma Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program. I am currently completing my advanced training in pediatric dentistry, where I am developing expertise in comprehensive oral healthcare for children, including behavior management, preventive care, and the treatment of medically complex patients.
I am originally from Galway, New York, and earned my undergraduate degree in Biology from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. I went on to receive my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2024. My clinical interests include 3D printing, sedation dentistry, dental trauma, and improving access to care for underserved pediatric populations.
Outside of my professional training, I value time with my family. I am married to my wife, Jessica, and am a proud father to our two children, Jack (5) and Josie (3). Balancing residency and family life has strengthened my commitment to compassionate, family-centered care and has given me a meaningful perspective when working with young patients and their parents.
My goal is to create positive, lasting dental experiences that help children build trust, confidence, and a strong foundation for lifelong oral health.
