Megan Maher-Sandstrom, DMD, is a second-year pediatric dental resident at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was born and raised in Long Beach, California and earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Occidental College, where she also worked as a preschool teaching assistant for four years—an experience that helped spark her interest in working with children.
Following graduation, she worked as a dental assistant in a pediatric practice in her hometown for two years before pursuing her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Western University of Health Sciences, where she graduated with highest honors and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society. During her time at WesternU, Dr. Megan became deeply involved in community service. She served as co-coordinator of the student-run Riverside Free Clinic, providing care to underserved populations in the Inland Empire. She also volunteered regularly with Special Olympics events, delivering dental screenings, oral hygiene instruction, fluoride varnish applications, and mouthguard fabrication for athletes.
These experiences solidified her passion for pediatric dentistry, combining clinical care with education and community outreach. She is especially committed to helping children build positive relationships with oral health from an early age.
In her free time, Dr. Maher-Sandstrom enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, and spending time outdoors. She looks forward to beginning her career as a pediatric dentist.
