Dr. Hong-Yuan (Serena) Hsin earned her dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Hudson Valley VA Medical Center. She subsequently spent eight years as a full-time dentist in a community-based clinic, where she played a key role in advancing a patient-centered dental home model for young children and strengthening care delivery within a safety-net system. Driven by a commitment to health equity and systems-level impact, Dr. Hsin pursued advanced
training in pediatric dentistry at UCLA, where she refined her expertise in managing complex pediatric cases while expanding her experience in interdisciplinary care, program development, and clinical leadership. Dr. Hsin brings a leadership-focused approach to dentistry, with particular strengths in optimizing clinical operations, redefining scope of services to better align with community needs, and building cohesive, high-performing teams. She is deeply committed to expanding access to care, improving quality and continuity of services, and developing sustainable models that support both patients and providers. As she transitions from training, Dr. Hsin will be taking on leadership roles in community-based settings, with a focus on directing and growing dental programs, stabilizing and strengthening care delivery systems, and driving meaningful, long-term improvements in pediatric oral health at both the organizational and population levels.
