Rohit U. Nair, BDS MDS is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Director of the Geriatric and Special Needs Dentistry Graduate Program. He is a practicing clinician and educator with a strong focus on comprehensive dental care for older adults and individuals with complex medical, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
Dr. Nair teaches and supervises predoctoral students and residents in a variety of clinical settings, including hospital-based clinics, community dental programs, and safety-net facilities. His clinical interests include management of medically complex patients, dental care for older adults with multimorbidity, xerostomia, and frailty, as well as care planning for patients with special health care needs. He actively leads senior-focused dental clinics at the Free Medical and Dental Clinic of Iowa City, where he provides direct patient care and faculty supervision while mentoring students in real-world clinical decision making.
Dr. Nair has delivered continuing education programs on geriatric dentistry, dental anxiety management, and care for patients with special needs. He is committed to training dentists who are confident, skilled, and compassionate in caring for medically vulnerable populations across diverse clinical environments and complex patient care.
