Dr. Francisco Ramos-Gomez is Professor and Chair of Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA and Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Advanced Clinical Training Program. He joined the UCLA faculty in 2008 and brings more than 40 years of experience in pediatric and community oral health. Dr. Ramos-Gomez has led numerous community-based initiatives over the past three decades and has authored more than 100 publications on pediatric and community oral health. He holds a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
In 2010, under his leadership, UCLA Pediatric Dentistry launched the Infant Oral Care Program (IOCP) in community clinics as part of a multi-state Early Childhood Caries Collaborative. The program expands access to culturally and linguistically appropriate care for underserved children ages 0–5 and their caregivers using a prevention and disease management approach based on CAMBRA.
Dr. Ramos-Gomez is the founder of the UCLA Center for Children’s Oral Health (UCCOH), which works to reduce oral health disparities among underserved children through interprofessional partnerships, preventive education, innovative training, and policy advocacy. His work promotes a shift in pediatric dentistry from a reactive treatment model to a proactive, prevention-focused approach.
He is a Past President of the Hispanic Dental Association, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Government Affairs Council and Medicaid Committee, and has served on the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) Education Committee since 2000. In 2025, he received the E. Morrow Award for Excellence in Dental Research from the International Association for Dental Research.
