Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins, PhD, Full Professor, Federal University of Uberlândia.
Holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde Barão de Mauá (1991), Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. Completed Professional Training (Residency) in Clinical Microbiology and Hospital Infection Control at the Hospital das Clínicas, Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (USP) in 1992. Earned a Master's degree in Biological Sciences (Applied Microbiology) from São Paulo State University – UNESP (1996), Rio Claro, São Paulo, Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy from São Paulo State University – UNESP (2002), Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil. Obtained the Habilitation (Livre-Docência) in Microbiology from São Paulo State University – UNESP (2017), Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil.
Currently, he is a Full Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBIM) of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Brazil. He is a faculty member and advisor in the Graduate Programs (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in Applied Immunology and Parasitology and in Applied Cellular and Structural Biology at ICBIM/UFU.
He has experience in the field of Microbiology, with emphasis on Bacteriology, mainly working on the following topics: antimicrobial activity of medicinal plants, antimicrobial activity of dental materials, and microbiology applied to health.
He is currently a member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation for Assistance, Study and Research of Uberlândia (FAEPU/UFU) (2023–2026). He is also a Research Productivity Fellow of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), level 1C.
