384 - Dental Management of Traumatic Crown Fractures in a Pediatric Patient

Abstract:
Traumatic dental injuries to permanent anterior teeth are common in pediatric patients and frequently result from falls. Complicated crown fractures with pulp exposure and immature root apices present a clinical challenge. This presentation describes the dental management of an 8-year-old male patient who presented following a fall resulting in trauma to the maxillary incisors. Medical and dental histories were non-contributory. Extraoral examination revealed no facial swelling or soft tissue injury. Intraoral findings included a complicated crown fracture of the maxillary right permanent central incisor (#8) with pulp exposure and an uncomplicated crown fracture of the maxillary left permanent central incisor (#9). Radiographic assessment confirmed pulp involvement and incomplete root development of tooth #8, with no root or alveolar fracture. Diagnostic procedures included clinical examination, pulp vitality testing, and periapical imaging. Vital pulp therapy, partial pulpotomy with MTA, was performed on tooth #8, and restorative treatment was provided for tooth #9.
