Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this split-mouth clinical trial was to compare the patient’s experience of comfort during administration of computerized intraosseous anesthesia via the SOAN or SleeperONE to one site (sextant), to their comfort during administration of the standard of care (infiltration anesthesia) to a matched site/sextant.

Methods: Pediatric dental patients aged 6 to 12 who were ASA I or ASA II, scheduled for dental treatment with nitrous oxide inhalation, with a minimum of two sextants of treatment needed, were recruited. The Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to assess patient comfort during administration of both computerized intraosseous anesthesia and conventional infiltration anesthesia. Additionally, a post-treatment questionnaire was administered to evaluate the patient's comfort immediately after completion of the operative procedures.
