327 - SHCN Population Under 18 Years Old at a FQHC Dental Department

Abstract:

Purpose: This is a retrospective study that examines the percent of population under 18 years old receiving dental care at a FQHC that have SHCN. This data has implications in education of healthcare workers at FQHCs to ensure that employees receive adequate training on how to best meet the needs of their populations.



Methods: This research study is a retrospective study (descriptive) for which data is collected from past NextGen records. Data includes patients between the ages of 0-17 years old who were seen at the Tri-County Community Action Agency Dental Sites between July 1-December 31, 2024. Patients were sorted into two categories “SHCN” and “No SHCN.”



Results: Upon compilation of data completion, full descriptive statistical analysis will be completed.



Conclusions: The patient population at a FQHC with SHCN is large and diverse – the importance of proper training and inclusivity of employees cannot be overstated. Furthermore, this study highlights the necessity of providing a safe and accessible environment for our patients – both with and without SHCN.
